The actor, who played Dr. George O'Malley on Grey's Anatomy from 2005 to 2009, married his longtime crush, Patrick, in an intimate ceremony Friday, US Weekly reports.
Knight, 40, took a short break from his current stint in an off-Broadway rendition of Romeo and Juliet for his nuptials. His stage co-stars Elizabeth Olsen and William Hurt were unable to make the ceremony because of the production, but Knight's good companion and former Grey's co-star Katherine Heigl was among the small group of guests.
In a declaration to People magazine in 2006, Knight came out as gay. The 33-year-old actor addressed rumors of his sexuality in a statement to People magazine on Thursday.
"I guess there have been a scant questions about my sexuality, and I'd like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there," Knight's statement browse. "While I prefer to keep my personal experience private, I hope the fact that I'm same-sex attracted isn't the most absorbing part of me."
Knight plays Dr. George O'Malley on the popular ABC drama. A former stage thespian, his television credits also include "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."
