During his four years as the star of the Fox drama Prison Break, actor Wentworth Miller did not want the nature to know that he is gay.

‘I was out to a handful of people in my twenties, and once I punch 30, I was out to family and friends,’ he says in a new interview with Details. ‘But professionally, I was feeding a fantasy. I created this air of “We don’t address that thing.”‘

He adds: ‘My deal with was on billboards, and I thought it was my job to do a certain way. But I think audiences knew to a certain degree.’

It was last summer that Miller acknowledged publicly that he is gay in a letter declining an invitation to appear at a film festival in Russia because of that country’s anti-gay laws.

‘I touch more fully expressed,’ he says of his post-coming out period. ‘After Prison Break, I came to grips with the truth that my public persona was in misalignment with how I actually felt.’

Wentworth Miller Reveals, 'I Tried To Kill Myself' for Being Gay

— -- Wentworth Miller publicly came out as gay last month, and now he's discussing his struggle coming to terms with his identity.

"The first time I tried to kill myself I was 15. I waited until my family went away for the weekend and I was alone in the house and I swallowed a bottle of pills," Miller said in a speech at the Human Rights Campaign Dinner in Seattle on Saturday, according to a video obtained by TMZ.

"I don't remember what happened over the next couple days, but I'm beautiful sure come Monday morning I was on a bus back to college pretending everything was fine," Miller said. "And when someone asked me if that was a bawl for help, I tell no, because I told no one. You only cry for help if you believe there's assist to cry for and I didn't. I wanted out. I wanted to go. At 15."

Miller, 41, announced that he was gay in a letter to the St. Petersburg International Film Festival committee, in which he declined an invitation to be the guest of honor at their event. His reason?
