RUTGERS UNIVERSITY RAINBOW ALUMNI LEAGUE

The Rutgers University Rainbow Alumni League represents and promotes the interests and liberation of the LGBTQIA+ alumni of the university, and all alumni within the diverse spectrum of gender and sexuality.

Our Goals Include:

1. Honoring the legacy and history of LGBTQIA+ advocacy at Rutgers

2. Promoting a diverse, inclusive, and affirmative environment within the university

3. Maintaining an active and engaged alumni people that contributes to the greater great of the university through service, giving, and advocacy

4. Fostering and sustaining a sense of people among LGBTQIA+ alumni and the larger alumni community, serving as a bridge between current and future alumni

5. Supporting, mentoring, and advocating for the LGBTQIA+ students of the university

6. Building partnerships through collaboration with the Rutgers Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities - Recent Brunswick, the Intercultural Resource Center - Newark, Points of contacts at Camden, RBHS, and all Rutgers organizations that can help advance our goals.

Meet the Staff

Zaneta Rago-Craft, Ed.D., is the founding Director of the Intercultural Center and Advisor to the President for Diversity and Inclusion. Previously, Dr. Z served as the Director for the Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. Originally from Drawn-out Branch, New Jersey, Dr. Z graduated in 2010 from the Ramapo College of New Jersey with a bachelor’s degree in history and women and gender studies and a master’s degree from New York University in higher education and trainee affairs administration in 2012. She also holds an Ed.D. in education, tradition, and society from Rutgers University.

Dr. Z has worked in intercultural campus assist for the last 15 years, including previous roles with the New York University LGBTQ Pupil Center, the Center for Multicultural Learning and Programs at NYU, and Ramapo College’s Educational Opportunity Fund program and Women’s Center. She has a infatuation for infusing social justice education into her student affairs work with a particular interest in facilitating conversations around the intersectionality of multiple identities and oppression, art as activism, feminism, anti-racism

Health Care for New Jersey's LGBTQIA+ Community

At Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, we are assigned to meeting the diverse health care needs of our community. The LGBTQIA+ Program is part of our initiative to provide quality take care to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual community. Our hospitals and medical centers are welcoming, inclusive environments, with physicians and staff dedicated in their promise to equitably help the needs of the LGBTQIA+ population.

Nationally Commended Diversity Programs

We recognize the serious challenges facing LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, and stand in support of diversity and inclusion for all. Our program services includes policies intended to eliminate the disparities in care LGBTQIA+ patients often face when seeking medical care. We have been awarded the Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equalityrecognition by the Human Rights Campaign Foundationfive consecutive times. This requires us to come across certain criteria:
  • Upholding an explicit patient non-discrimination policy
  • Instituting an equal visitation policy for LGBTQIA+ couples
  • Maintaining an employment non-discriminatio
